2012 Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force Concept

Image
Is it possible that the Mercedes-Benz G-Class will still be around in 2025? A cool design study from Mercedes-Benz demonstrates how the genes of the classic off-roader from 1979 may still assert themselves far into the future. It is based on the concept of a future police car developed for the Los Angeles Design Challenge. The Los Angeles Design Challenge 2012 looks far ahead with a quest for the "Highway Patrol Vehicle 2025". Law enforcement will have to prepare for even more crowded roads with electronically monitored and guided traffic, a much larger population and changes in human behavior. People will still feel young and active even later in life. Outdoor activities will dominate leisure, as will the desire for freedom and adventure. The new times will also call for new police vehicles. They must be able to reach any place conceivable quickly and reliably – even far away from any pavement. And they must do so in an exceptionally environmentally friendly way using altern

2012 Hamann Range Rover Evoque

Image
The HAMANN designer outfit gives the small Range Rover a significant boost in presence, making it an exclusive eye-catcher both on- and off-road. The precise craftsmanship and flawless surface finish pay testament to the quality of the aerodynamics package. The two-part front spoiler is an essential component of the vehicle's dynamic front construction. The HAMANN SUV gains its pronounced masculine look thanks to side wing extensions. Supplemented by the side sill set, these widen the series body by 70 millimeters at the front axle and 80 millimeters at the rear axle. The HAMANN central rear panel rounds off the car's confident look and makes room for the resounding double-pipe stainless-steel muffler. Besides excellent sound, the renowned specialist places particular value on a rich performance increase. The combination of the HAMANN components, including a high-performance exhaust system, sports air filter and optimized engine performance graph, results in a profound power in

Shelby Ford F-150 Super Snake

Image
Shelby Automobiles Incorporated has released their latest Super Snake tuning kit on the Ford F-150 models, for years ranging from 2003-2008. Based off of the Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake, the upgrades improve performance, handling, and looks. Hummer Roadster

Image
No, the Hummer Roadster isn’t a topless Hummer H2, but rather one with an extremely chopped roof and a ton of bizarre modifications. Up front, the Hummer’s multi-slat grille and round headlights have been replaced by what looks to be a single giant fiberglass, er, creation that lacks any visible lighting. The roof is several inches lower than a stock H2’s, and the rear doors have been integrated into the body, leaving the Roadster just two operable doors. Inside, the rear seats have been removed and a bunch of speakers and airbrushed plastic left in their wake. Is it just us, or does it not look like average-height humans with necks and heads could actually sit in the Hummer Roadster without leaning at least 45 degrees to one side or the other?

The Heroes Truck

Image
Over five years, a claimed 50,000 man-hours—1200 for the airbrushed paint job alone—what once was a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup is now this creation, dubbed the Heroes Truck. The rig is a rolling tribute to our service men and women, firefighters, and police, and it is unabashedly the most ’Murican thing we saw at SEMA this year. The body—which can hydraulically separate from the chromed-tube chassis—features painted scenes of troops throughout the ages fighting for our freedom, the September 11 terrorist attacks, bald eagles, ridiculously attractive and well-endowed female angels, and several U.S. Presidents. LCD screens festooned about the truck display images of heroes, though they’re located in some unexpected places. (The shock towers and front bumper, for example.) If you like your patriotism loud, proud, and absurdly high above the ground, and support U.S. heroes, this probably is the zenith of automotive manifestations of such feelings.

Odyssey Batteries Bigfoot EV

Image
Admittedly, seeing a monster truck at SEMA is hardly surprising, which is why we nearly strolled right past this Bigfoot lookalike parked in Odyssey Batteries’ booth. But seeing an electric monster truck anywhere is mighty interesting, which is why we’re glad we caught a glimpse of Odyssey’s booth signage that gave away this Bigfoot’s battery power. Tucked underneath the truck’s body within the tube-frame chassis are 30 Odyssey car batteries and an Electrified Motorsports DC motor. An additional six batteries are used to power the electric power steering—it’s permeating even monster-truck steering racks!—and the electrically boosted brakes.

Hot Rod 1944 Mac Fire Truck Featured at the 2011 SEMA Show

Image
It takes a certain vision to create a master piece but, sometimes it's natural. Take a 1944 Mac Fire Truck for example. What ingredients do you need to make this vintage fire truck and make it look cool? All you need is the owner, Roger Brown, and custom designer, Tom Stark from Precision Designs. Roger and Tom have been friends for quite a sometime. They worked together on a Safety Safari team for NHRA. Somewhere down the line Roger got a hold of old fire truck and wanted to do something special with it. He contacted his buddy Tom and said, "Hi Tom, What do you think about building a Hot Rod fire truck?" Naturally, after viewing pictures the vehicle, Tom agreed to tackle the massive project. The "Black Dragon", as it is called, has under gone major suspension work, custom panel building, and hours of paint work. To support the heavy frame and body, the suspension was upgraded with some beefy support bars and heavy duty air bags. Once that was accomplished, an S

1300 bhp Monster truck

Image
Ford 350 Monster truck weighs in at a quarter of a ton, but that's no problem because its methanol-burning, supercharged 9.5 liter Chevy motor produces 1300 bhp and more than 1000 ft-lb of torque. Economical it is not, delivering a jaw-dropping 50-60 yards per gallon thanks to its 4.5 tonne weight. Completing the over-the-top creation, the truck is fitted with a 600 psi air cannon capable of firing any object up to 650 kg (1,433 lb). Refrigerators go more than 80 yards (73 m), scooters (pictured) go a lot further.

Super cool Fortified “Dragon” Tank Truck

Image
This super cool truck is actually from Russia, but it was just too good to pass up. Dragons are a cross cultural beast of legend, but because they feature so highly in Chinese culture, that’s enough to link it to East Asia in my view! Many pieces of steel are welded onto the cab to create this formidable vehicle. Now that’s how to cut through traffic in central London! Speaking of which, bullet-proof glass will also make it ideal for the east or south of London.

“Big Rig Jig” Giant Truck Sculpture

Image
Big Rig Jig, creative sculpture designed by Mike Ross, is built from two repurposed 18-wheeler tanker trucks The sculpture utilizes two decommissioned trucks, referencing a global oil industry at the nexus of our world’s political, social, and environmental systems. By repurposing these symbolically rich objects, the artist conveys his admiration for and anxiety over humanity’s power.

How does a jet truck work?

Image
Shockwave, a triple jet-engine truck on a 260-inch (660-cm) wheelbase, holds the Guinness record for jet-truck speed at  376 miles per hour  (605 kph). Driving on a runway, Shockwave racesairplanes that are flying above it at 300 miles per hour. Shockwave uses three Pratt & Whitney J34-48 engines, also used in the U.S. Navy's T2A Buckeye plane. The engines are arranged in a pyramid formation, tilted at a three-degree angle to help keep the 6,800-pound (3,084 kg) truck on the ground. The engines produce a total of 36,000 horsepower and 19,000 pounds of static thrust. The outlet of the engine is fitted with a special fuel line that carries raw diesel fuel to a ring-like burner inside the outlet. This dumping of raw diesel fuel into the burner creates flames and smoke that make for some very special effects. The front of the truck is the only stock part, an original 1985 Peterbilt cab.
