Peugeot 4002 Lion

Image
Peugeot has presented an impressive range of original and interesting concept and show cars over the last years. In an effort to expand on this, Peugeot introduced an on-line design competition in 2000 which showed some nice results. At the 2002 Paris Motor Show the second edition of this competition was launched, which grew in importance and received 2800 entries from 90 different countries. Ultimately the "Lion" design, later dubbed 4002, by graphic artist Stefan Schulze received the most votes and won the competition. As a reward his design was realized by Peugeot as a full-scale model and introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. The result of this is the striking car you see above. The designs for the competition had to be "retrofuturistic", combining advanced styling with historic features. An eligible design should fulfil the conditions that it had to have a clear Peugeot theme, recall a historic model and be innovative. Remarkably the Schulze design does

Rolls-Royce Phantom

Image
The original British luxury car that started its run in 1925, the Rolls-Royce Phantom moniker and heritage spread over seven model generations. Owned by the likes of John Lennon and the Sultan of Brunei (what doesn’t he own?), the Phantom exuded class and wealth. Driving in it can be equated with sitting in an executive boardroom on wheels. Though it may have suffered from a bit of bloatedness in its fifth and sixth generations, the seventh and current iteration proves to be the right combination of power, performance and sophistication. Like it for its power and size. Love it for its ever-upright logo’d wheel hubs and its door retractable umbrella holders. Who needs Grey Poupon?

1966 Batmobile

Image
"The 1966 Batmobile by George Barris is the most recognized and popular piece of entertainment history, worldwide, that has become an icon. This is the first time that the original Batmobile has been up for sale. Included with the Batmobile will be historical memorabilia and documentation from George’s personal archive," reads the description of the car from Barrett-Jackson. In the past, we've seen several other Batmobile replicas used in the 1966 Batman television series and the homonymous movie starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin going under the hummer – for example, the No6 Batmobile fetched US$233,000 at a UK auction in 2007. The original 1966 Batmobile, which has been in the hands of George Barris since its inception, however, will command a whole lot more money and we wouldn't be surprised at all if it brings in a few million dollars during the Scottsdale Collector Car Auction that runs from January 13 to 20, 2013. What do you think ?

ETV: Extra Terrestrial Vehicle

Image
A friend in Dubai spotted this recently, thinking it was possibly a solar car. I'd seen a pic of something similar recently, sure it was some kind super low volume of electric car. Sadly, we were both wrong. I did find it, and it's pictured below. It's called the ETV, for Extra Terrestrial Vehicle. And what kind of alternate drive-train does this futuristic car have? Scroll down to find out.

Mercedes Silver Arrow Concept

Image
For the 2011 Los Angeles Design Challenge, which was seeking to find the most spectacular new film car for Hollywood, the designers from the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Sindelfingen (Germany) and Carlsbad (USA), have joined the ranks of the screen-writers. The designers at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Carlsbad, California have created a Hollywood-style homage for Mercedes-Benz to 125 years of innovation in automotive technology and design. The leading roles are played by two high-tech characters which have been instrumental in reconciling safety and stylish design in automobiles: the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow cult racing car and crash test dummies. The film "Silver Lightning" is set in the near future, in an age of artificial intelligence. Two crash test dummies by the names of Hans05 and Franz02 take on evil ruler Dr. Crash-Barrier to save their beloved Mercedes Silver Arrow. They engage in an action-packed, nerve-jangling duel with the ruthless

Amazing Engineering : Making of The World’s Smallest V12 Engine

Image
World’s smallest engine made by a Spanish engineer named Patelo. Who made a history to make the smallest engine ever. He had spent around 1200 hours in designing, milling, turning and drilling to create the World’s smallest engine. He used hunks of aluminum, bronze and stainless steel to create it. In the World’s Smallest engine features 12 cylinders, compressed air injection (0.1kg/sqcm), total displacement of 12 cubic centimeters from its twelve 11.3 mm diameter pistons. It is totally a charming and cutest, smallest engine ever. Patelo has no plans to sell the mini motor. He presented the World’s smallest engine to his “GRANDCHILDREN”. Really the hard work has give him the real success. There are 261 pieces of the engine made by Mr.Patelo, and used 222 screws which he purcahsed to draw the line. It contains 12 mini pistons with air injection. Watch the video featuring the making of ‘World’s Smallest V12 Engine :

Lamborghini Ankonian concept project adds more aggression to the Reventon

Image
A couple of days back, we had a look at the Lamborghini Madura concept, and now there’s a more aggressive concept from designer Slavche Tanevsky in the form of the Lamborghini Ankonian concept. According to the designer, the Ankonian takes the design of the Reventon to the next level, even though the concept itself manages a unique expression. The supercar concept has a more aggressive design, and is downsized to account for a more environment-friendly status, though it does not include any hybrid or similar technologies. The mid-engined supercar has a narrow and rather complex-looking body, with a garnishing of GT proportions. Thin OLEDs embedded between the surfaces function as headlights, and while all those lines may look weird, the Ankonian supposedly makes the best use of it all. The concept was named after a bull type famous for black hair, and since the designer had some help from professional designers Lamborghini and Audi.

Hot Rod 1944 Mac Fire Truck Featured at the 2011 SEMA Show

Image
It takes a certain vision to create a master piece but, sometimes it's natural. Take a 1944 Mac Fire Truck for example. What ingredients do you need to make this vintage fire truck and make it look cool? All you need is the owner, Roger Brown, and custom designer, Tom Stark from Precision Designs. Roger and Tom have been friends for quite a sometime. They worked together on a Safety Safari team for NHRA. Somewhere down the line Roger got a hold of old fire truck and wanted to do something special with it. He contacted his buddy Tom and said, "Hi Tom, What do you think about building a Hot Rod fire truck?" Naturally, after viewing pictures the vehicle, Tom agreed to tackle the massive project. The "Black Dragon", as it is called, has under gone major suspension work, custom panel building, and hours of paint work. To support the heavy frame and body, the suspension was upgraded with some beefy support bars and heavy duty air bags. Once that was accomplished, an S

Super cool Fortified “Dragon” Tank Truck

Image
This super cool truck is actually from Russia, but it was just too good to pass up. Dragons are a cross cultural beast of legend, but because they feature so highly in Chinese culture, that’s enough to link it to East Asia in my view! Many pieces of steel are welded onto the cab to create this formidable vehicle. Now that’s how to cut through traffic in central London! Speaking of which, bullet-proof glass will also make it ideal for the east or south of London.

Plate gold motorcycle selling at 500,000 dollars

This custom bike will likely disgust purists but, in its own way, it’s a work of art. Plated gold and highly personalised, it’s turned up in an international exhibition in Seattle.

World’s Most Advanced “Combat” Robot

Image
Well, combat in the title is within quotes, because Kuratas is made for entertainment and having fun instead of military purposes. We must admit, really big and expensive toy – you may have it for “only” 1,350,000$ (100 mln yenas). And what do you get for your money? A huge, 4 meter tall diesel powered mech warrior built with 4.5 tons of steel and wires. This vehicle has 4 wheels mounted on steel legs, which provides propulsion to the system with a top speed of 6.2mph. The upper half is similar to a human’s chest with two arms and something like a head. You may drive it directly from the pilot deck within the “chest” using the AE V-5100 control system, or by remote control from your smartphone. The robot is supplied with a carbon shield for better defense.

The World’s Only Turbine-powered Batmobile

Image
If you have been dreaming about a Batmobile to be a real car, you should thank to Casey Putsch and enjoy the following cutie powered by a turbine 385-horespower Boeing turboshaft engine from a naval helicopter. It sounds awesome, yeah?! The new car not only looks great and will make a lot of heads turn, it features a custom tube frame/monocoque chassis with fully independent suspension, reliable disc brakes, and a sequential shifter. The cutie runs on kerosene, diesel, or Jet fuel. The Batmobile is 20 feet long and 7.5 feet wide, and the hottest part … the Batmobile is completely street legal. The new car boasts a sound system iPod-compatible. The vehicle weighs around 2,800 pounds.

AquaStar2 AS2

Image
AquaStar scooters in Florida have developed a pair of recreational submersibles which both offer ease of use and relative affordability when compared with other undersea vessels. The two-person AquaStar2 AS2 is based on the smaller, single seat Aquastar1 AS1. Both subs share a similar design, but the AS2 has an additional seat and an extended helmet. The AS2 offers scuba diving-like capabilities, but without certification, no cumbersome attached gear, and no experience required - especially if you're the passenger. The AquaStar2 AS2 can dive to around 12 meters (40 ft), and achieve a top speed of 3.1 mph (5 km/h). The batteries last around 2 hours, although the air supply will need changing after 1 hour and 10 minutes. If for any reason the electrical system should fail, a backup system - using the compressed air tank - can bring the sub to the surface quickly and safely. The easy to use handlebars offer control over direction, depth, and speed. Because the AquaStar AS2 is an open
