A few days ago, we looked at the detailed build process and saw what exactly influenced the exterior styling of the ’70 Spectre Camaro. Now, here is the completed car. Quite a drastic change from the yellow car it once was, no? Source: http://www.speedhunters.com

CAR FEATURE>>MARY’S FULLY FUNCTIONAL CAMARO

Image
When the first Pro Touring cars hit the scene in the 1990s, the idea was simple. Take the timeless style of a vintage Muscle Car and make it perform like a modern machine. Not only was a Pro Touring car built to be an all around performer, it was also built to eat up miles without breaking a sweat – whether it was a long interstate run or a backroad romp. At some point though, Pro Touring cars may have jumped the shark. Source: http://www.speedhunters.com

1969 Ford Fairlane - Torino Cobra

Image
Officially, these are known simply as Cobras, according to period Ford advertising and sales brochures, and more importantly, the dealer winder-sticker. Really though, these are Fairlanes, as the Torino designation was an option package for the Fairlane body-code and was not yet a separate model line in 1969. Sometimes also referred to as the Torino GT or Fairlane Cobra, this naming convention generates some debate in collector circles. This line featured two body styles: the hardtop (aka “formal roof”) and the much more common “sports roof” fastback. The Cobra performance package included as standard the 335 hp 428 Cobra Jet V-8 with a Holly 4bbl. Optional Ram Air didn’t increase horsepower, but it boosted the performance peak to 5,600 rpm. Also included was a locking rear differential, which was exclusive to Ford. Quarter mile times were typically in the 14.5 second range. Exact production figures are difficult to come by, but it is estimated that about 14,000 Cobras were sold in 196

Plymouth Barracuda

Image
In 1970, the Barracuda received a major redesign. The newly redesigned Barracuda was based on the E-Body platform, which was shared with the Dodge Challenger. One of their main goals for the E-Body was to be able to throw any engine they wanted in these cars, from a small slant six, to a larger 426 Hemi. To achieve this they used the cowl from the bigger B-Bodies, such as the Road Runner, and worked it into the design of the car.

1967 Mercury Cougar

Image
Based on the ford Mustang, the Cougar was very popular when it debuted, selling over 150,000 in its flagship year. In fact, Motor Trend Magazine named it the Car of the Year for '67. Aesthetically, the Cougar looked a lot like the Mustang. There were a few major differences though. For one thing the wheel base was a good 3 inches longer which added some stability on the road. In addition, it also featured a brand new front grill with a vertical chrome pattern that some enthusiasts dubbed "the electric shaver grill". The hideaway headlamps were set back into the grill giving it a very distinctive look. If style is a major factor in your auto restoration decision then you may definitely want to opt for the Cougar.

1974 DODGE CHALLENGER

Image
The Hemi lasted through 1971, by which time toughening emissions laws and rising insurance rates were killing off every American automaker’s high-compression performance engines. Fast Dodges were available for a few more years, but when the Challenger was put to rest in 1974, Dodge performance went into a slumber that wouldn’t be lifted until 1992. That’s when the Viper signaled a reawakening of Dodge’s muscle car spirit, a reawakening that would lead eventually to the resurrection of the Challenger itself.

1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 – 2012 Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson Auction

Image
The Mustang Boss 429 is one of the most desirable Mustangs left in existence and it's always a real treat to see one come across the auction block. With only 1359 examples built in their production run from 1969-1970, these high-horsepower pony cars are not always easy to track down and have been fetching some serious coin over the last few years.By the end of the 1960s Ford was on a mission to bring something competitive to the NASCAR Grand National series, and the 429 was their entry ticket. Built with hemispherical combustion chambers, aluminum heads, and a forged crankshaft this high revving V-8 was only rated (on paper) at 375 bhp, however dyno-testing over the years has proven it capable of well in excess of 500 bhp. This monster engine took up some serious real estate in the engine bay, so much so that Ford was forced to contract Kar Kraft to completely redesign the front suspension architecture to make it fit.Sadly the Boss 429 wasn't a big hit when it made it into show

Gran Turismo Awards crowns Best of Show from SEMA, will include in game

Image
Part of the blinged-out pomp and circumstance that surrounds SEMA is the presentation of the Gran Turismo Awards, which recognizes best car design and innovations in six categories, as well as an overall Best in Show. This year's winner was David Eckert and his 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 40, which also won the award for Best Hot Rod. Other winners included the Toyota DragQuoia for Best Truck/SUV, the 2013 Ford Mustang RTR for Best Domestic Car, the Scion Evasive FR-S for Best Asian Import and the 500-horsepower VWVortex Super Beetle won for best European Import. But it was the Mach 40 that apparently captured the interest of judges, which included Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. David Eckert's team created a clever combination of Mustang Mach 1 styling and massive power, using the powertrain from the Ford GT. That means this 'Stang was fitted with a mid-mounted supercharged 5.4-liter V8, producing 600 to 850 horsepower, modulated using an "adjustable horsepower dia

Lingenfelter Camaro Firebird

Image
The power of Lingenfelter’s Firebird comes from a modified 7.5 liter GM V8 which develops 655 hp. So while the car’s appearance might not live up to the expectations, its engine would beat them eadily.

1969 Mustang

Image
Responding to declining sales resulting from increased competition in the pony car genre, Ford completely restyled the Mustang for the 1969 year model. Though actually only four inches longer than the 1967 and ’68 Mustangs at 187.4 inches, the redesign had the muscular look of being far larger than the previous models. Most prominent was a four headlight system, moving the main lights outside of the grille, with the inboard lights mounted inside the grille. And for those participating in the late-1960s trend of wanting more powerful cars, the Mach I model was introduced as the most powerful Mustang ever. Available with the aforementioned 428 cubic inch V-8 called the Cobra Jet Ram-Air, capable of producing 360 horsepower, the car came with dual exhaust and high back bucket seats. Possibly in response to the muscle car trend, hood air scoops were added. For the third consecutive year, Mustang production fell in 1969, though this year’s drop of 5.62 percent over 1968 marked the lowest ye
